Control and Arrest Tactics (CAT)

In this course, students are exposed to and trained in methods of de-escalating potential threatening situations and verbalizing intended and applied uses of force. Classroom and practical applications of the use of pressure points, takedowns, weapon defense, disarming, and proper handcuffing techniques are trained and reviewed.

Training Requirements:

  • Sworn Personnel - 12 hours per year/3 hours per quarter of hands on training
  • Cadets - 83 hours
  • Recruits - 40 hours of hands on training
