The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) provides comprehensive investigative services through its seven zones, which divide the state regionally.

Additionally, DCI zones assign Special Agents to federal task forces to partner with federal and local law enforcement to reduce crime through intelligence-led policing. These partnerships include the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), the United States Marshals Service (USMS), the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
