Office of the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator

The Office of the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator is responsible for administering the Emergency Telephone Systems Act. The Administrator oversees the technical and operational standards for 9-1-1 Systems, approves modifications and consolidations to systems, and administers two grant programs – for consolidations and NG9-1-1 expenses. The Administrator is also responsible for implementing a statewide Next Generation 9-1-1 system.

Alicia Atkinson, ENP, CPE, serves as the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator for the Illinois State Police, Division of Statewide 9-1-1. Alicia began her career in public safety as a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator in 2006, later serving as a Certified Training Officer, Training and Quality Assurance Coordinator, Assistant Communications Manager, and Deputy Director within 9-1-1 centers. She also worked in the private sector, where she led projects and teams supporting 9-1-1 centers in implementing software and call-handling protocols.

Alicia is a NENA Certified Emergency Number Professional (ENP) and an APCO Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE). Over the course of her career, she has received multiple honors, including Excellence in Leadership awards and Employee of the Year recognitions. Alicia has spearheaded major system implementations and operational initiatives designed to continuously elevate the standard of service provided by 9-1-1. Alicia also served as the Region 1 Director and Chair of the Training and Education committee within the Illinois Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
