Challenging your Record

If you believe our records indicating that you are prohibited from possessing a Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) Card are inaccurate, you will need to provide documentation correcting the record used to make the eligibility determination sufficient to remove the firearm prohibition. Please send an email to ISP.FRCU@Illinois.gov along with your name, date of birth, and FOID number and Firearm Disposition Record (for denied renewals, revocations, and suspensions only).

Please Note: It is your responsibility to provide or arrange for the requested documents to be provided to the Department. Upon receipt of all the documents requested, your application will be reviewed and processed. Submission of the required documents does not guarantee approval of a FOID card; however, it is required to begin the review process.
