ISP Troopers Join in on St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s Efforts

Chicago – On March 15, 2015, Illinois State Police (ISP) troopers once again joined in with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research.  ISP employees throughout the Chicagoland area, their friends, and family joined Team Trooper and shaved their heads for a worthwhile cause.

Team Trooper joined 19 other teams in Willowbook, IL, and together they raised just over $63,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  The 27 members of Team Trooper raised almost $22,000, easily surpassing their $10,000 goal and earning them the top spot for fund raising at their location.  Team Trooper has successfully raised over $158,000 for cancer research since they began participating in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising event back in 2008.

“I’m proud of the efforts these officers put forward towards raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation,” said ISP Director Schmitz.  “These officers exemplify what it is to be a police officer as they continue to serve others even when they are not on duty,” added Schmitz.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that helps fund childhood cancer research.  The foundation raises money primarily through head-shaving events sponsored by volunteers and donors throughout the United States and 28 countries.  Since it first became an independent foundation in 2005, St. Baldrick’s partners have helped raise over $150 million for childhood cancer research.
