Release Date: 6/20/2018 10:16:00 AM

Effingham, IL – In May, Illinois State Police (ISP) District 12 Trooper, Nathan Schnarre, was commended by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for his work in a case involving violent gang members and the distribution of heroin and weapons trafficking in six states. The FBI noted Trooper Schnarre’s “investigative prowess and relentless investigative techniques” which uncovered a hidden compartment during a traffic stop. The investigation led to the discovery of large amounts of heroin, the recovery of firearms, half of which were military grade assault rifles. Trooper Schnarre’s persistence provided evidence which led to the arrest of six individuals, with more federal charges pending. “This is a great example of the dedication to public safety shared by our District 12 Troopers”, said District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt. Well done, Trooper Schnarre!
