ILLINOIS STATE POLICE DIRECTOR RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ADWARD

Chicago, IL – Illinois State Police Director Leo P. Schmitz was honored on October 25, 2017, at the Cook County Crime Stoppers Annual Awards Dinner.  Director Schmitz was presented the Distinguished Service Award for his career in law enforcement spanning more than three decades. 

“I am humbled to be recognized by Cook County Crime Stoppers with the Distinguished Service Award,” said Illinois State Police Director Leo P. Schmitz.  “This award would not have been possible without the assistance of the many colleagues I have had the pleasure to work with throughout my law enforcement career,” he added. 

The Distinguished Service Award is given to leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary service in the field of Crime Prevention.  Law enforcement officers were recognized at the dinner for acts of valor, exceptional acts of dedication, success in high-profile investigations, the sacrifices they made, and the countless hours they spent away from their families in order to ensure the citizens of Illinois remain safe.
