ILLINOIS STATE POLICE DISTRICT 5 HEADQUARTERS TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE

Springfield, IL - Illinois State Police (ISP) officials announce the temporary closure of the ISP District 5 Headquarters located at 16648 Broadway Street in Lockport, Illinois.

The ISP and the Illinois Department of Central Management Services are currently working together to address environmental concerns and ensure necessary maintenance to the District 5 building is completed. The required maintenance includes the removal of asbestos, which was recently discovered after attempts were made to remove mold in the building; the mold is believed to be caused by flooding in the area. Maintenance to the building is currently in progress and ISP personnel have been relocated to other work locations as a precaution until all maintenance has been completed and all environmental concerns have been addressed.

The ISP District 5 will continue to address the needs of the public during this time. When reporting an incident in this area to the ISP, please call (815) 726-6377 to be connected to ISP personnel; for emergencies please call 9-1-1. The emergency red phone is still in use at the front door of the District 5 building; this phone will connect you with ISP telecommunications.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The ISP is in the early stages of planning for a multi-use building, which would encompass a Forensic Science Laboratory, District 5 Headquarters, and possibly other ISP work units in Will County. This project has been the agency’s number one priority for over five years and will help increase the DNA testing turnaround time, and get victims of crime the justice they deserve. We’re grateful to Governor Pritzker and bipartisan members of the General Assembly for passing Rebuild Illinois and making this critical investment a reality. The ISP will work closely with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services and the Illinois Capital Development Board during this planning process.
