Suspect Faces Multiple Class X Felony Charges In Megabus Firearm Discharge
Des Plaines, IL – On May 12 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Illinois State Police District 15 responded to reports of shots fired on a Megabus which subsequently pulled into the Des Plaines Oasis from Interstate 90 westbound. Preliminary investigations indicates a weapon was discharged into the restroom on the Megabus. As the subject was walking down the isle, a handgun fell from the subject, passengers on the bus subdued the subject and held him until police arrived. No injuries occurred from the discharge of the firearm.
The subject was taken into custody by Illinois State Police troopers without incident. Charges are pending awaiting positive identification through fingerprints. The investigation continues and no further information is available. Once charges are filed and approved by the Cook County State's Attorneys' Office a press release with mug shot will be disseminated.
UPDATE: On May 14, 2015, the Cook County State’s Attorney approved charges against Jacques L. Anderson, 27, of Chicago for Armed Violence, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Escape, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Criminal Damage to Property and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. Anderson is being held on a $225,000 bond in Cook County Department of Corrections.
