Trunk Or Treat Success

Release Date: 11/2/2016 4:06:00 PM

Litchfield, IL – On October 31, 2016, Illinois State Police (ISP) District 18 (Litchfield) sponsored a Trunk or Treat for the surrounding communities. Approximately 700 participants came out to ISP District 18 Headquarters to meet local first responders and receive candy.

Representatives from a number of different departments participated. Officers from the following police departments were at ISP District 18 Headquarters; Litchfield Police Department, Gillespie Police Department, Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police. Firefighters from the Litchfield Fire Department also came out with two ambulances and a ladder truck. The ladder truck was extended proudly displaying the flag of the United States of America.

“This event is key for first responders and the public,” said ISP District 18 Commander Timothy Tyler. He continued by saying, “Many people in the public do not get to see first responders except in stressful or tense situations. Letting the public see our tools and interacting with us in a laid back environment will only help us keep our trust strong within the community. Events like this will help the public feel more comfortable around us, which makes it much easier for us to help them.”

A special thank you is given to a few of our local stores in Litchfield; Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Rural King, who donated some of the candy that was used. Also thank you to the ISP Troopers and the rest of the first responders who personally donated additional candy for the event. A thank you is given to all of our First Responders who took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer to be a part of the event. Troopers at ISP District 18 are already looking forward to doing this again next year.
