The Illinois State Police (ISP) Ride Along Program is intended to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about the daily duties of an Illinois State Police Trooper. Anyone interested in becoming an ISP Trooper is encouraged to request a ride along.

Participant Guidelines

• Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Individual programs may require participants to be older.
• Participation in the Ride Along Program is voluntary. The length of participation depends on the type of activity involved.
• Participants are passive observers and should not take an active part in any police operation unless directed by the officer, circumstances require action because of an immediate threat to life, or the participant is an officer with full police powers.
