Message from the Director

Quote from Krankie - 911 dispatcher

The week of April 11-17, 2021, is National Public Safety Telecommunicators’ Week, officially marking the time each year when we formally acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices of all Telecommunicators.

Telecommunications personnel are a critical lifeline for our citizens and officers with their efforts often meaning the difference between life and death. They answer call after call, day and night, as their voices guide both citizens and law enforcement alike in the most trying of circumstances. Our Telecommunicators are often the unseen and unsung heroes of emergency services working together to advance the cause of public safety and to fulfill the mission of the Illinois State Police.

Please join me in expressing our sincere gratitude to the men and women who serve the Illinois State Police by working in Telecommunications. Their constant devotion to public safety dispatching, consistent excellence in customer service, and the continued pursuit of our goal of protecting life and property must be honored not just this week, but every week.
