Training and SORNA Exchange Portal Access

The Illinois State Police Offender Registration Unit works closely with law enforcement partners everyday regarding the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). To continue furthering the relationship with our law enforcement partners we now have offender registration training documents, tools, guides and current registration forms that are used statewide within the SORNA Exchange Portal for law enforcement partners to access at anytime.

The SORNA Exchange Portal is an online information sharing system for SORNA jurisdictions (states, tribes, territories, and DC). The portal facilitates the sharing of sex offender registration information between SORNA jurisdictions and is only accessible by sex offender registry officials and authorized criminal justice personnel.

To begin the process for an account, you must apply and be approved for a Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP) Account. Once your LEEP Account is approved, you will then need to request access to the SORNA Exchange Portal for Illinois. Once approved you will have access to all training items the Offender Registration Unit has to offer. The Unit has the ability to update, add, or remove training items in real time within the SORNA Exchange Portal, while also providing information and announcements that relate specifically to law enforcement agencies that handle offender registration in the State of Illinois.

Law enforcement members will need to provide their name, title, phone number, Agency ORI and organizational email address to apply. It should take approximately 4-6 weeks before the LEEP Account is approved.

The Illinois State Police cannot provide assistance for LEEP Accounts. For LEEP assistance call the FBI Support Center at (888)-334-4536 or email the help desk at helpdesk@leo.gov.
