The Illinois State Police provides an online listing of murderers and violent offenders against youth required to register in the State of Illinois. The database is updated daily and allows searching by name, city, county, zip code, compliance status, or any combination thereof.
Geographic searching is also available on the Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth website. To begin a search, click the Map Your Neighborhood link to the right to be directed to the mapping page. Enter an address in the search box or click on a location within the map. Click on a purple marker to display the offender details in the right pane.
COVID-19 Update
Law Enforcement
As law enforcement agencies continues to address the emergency situation related to COVID-19, the Illinois State Police would like to provide some additional guidance with respect to offender registration pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration Act and/or Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registration Act. At this time, offender registration requirements have not been suspended. Amid social distancing recommendations surrounding concerns with COVID-19, agencies should determine how they plan to process and handle offender registrations. It is recommended departments document their procedures and interactions with registrants for future reference to assist with additional questions or enforcement issues as they may arise. Departments are advised to be consistent on how they handle all registrants during this period and to consult with their respective state’s attorney with any concerns or questions concerning enforcement. The Illinois State Police will determine how to address administrative extensions once normal operations resume.
